A VERY simple AM transmitter. Audio Quality is Awful, but good enough for what I needed it for.

After getting tired of wondering why my crystal radio set wouldn't work, I decided I would build a simple AM transmitter to give myself a strong local signal source for testing. This little thing uses a hartley oscillator with a single 2N2222 transistor, a 250pF tank cap, and a slug-tunable tank inductor. I used a pair of wooden skewers to allow me to make adjustments to the tuning and feedback without disturbing the antenna loading too much. I have not yet gotten around to testing the crystal set using it, but it sure does put out a strong singnal to my stereo. It's very finicky, but tremendously simple. Most of the parts were salvaged from a dead computer power supply.

It's slug-tunable from around 800kHz to more than 1.4MHz

The mock-up breadboard version worked, if anything, even better than the final version. I must have done something wrong... :-(
